Tuesday Thingers: Reviewing

This meme is hosted by The Boston Bibliophile. For other responses, see her blog here. Here is this week's question:

When it comes to LT (and your blog), do you review every book you read? Do you just review Early Reviewers or ARCs? Do you review only if you like a book, or only if you feel like you have to? How soon after reading do you post your review? Do you post them other places- other social networking sites, Amazon, etc.?

I review every book I read. I set up my blog specifically for that reason. I've just recently joined LT so I don't have a review posted for every book in my LT library.

I don't normally read ARCs because I don't want the obligation and pressure to read any particular book.

I write my reviews within a day of finishing a book. I usually let a review sit at least a few hours before I post it so I can reread it and make sure it says what I want it to say.

I post my reviews only on my blog. Announcements and/or links to my reviews appear in my Book Blogs groups and home page, Here Be (Book) Reviews, and Twitter.

No ARCs? I must say, that I do enjoy a free book...but seriously...what I enjoy about about ARCs is that it has led me to read, and enjoy, a number of books that I would never have read otherwise and discovered a number of new authors. Well, new to me.

I read ARCs of books that I think I will like - of course I have such ecclectic tastes that I end up reading a lot of ARCs. I've stopped requesting now so that I can read what I have and get to my OWN books finally. I seriously have reading material for a couple of years yet. And there are still all those books at the library...

I started my blog to do just that too. The obligation to review ARCs is off-putting, especially if I haven't enjoyed the book.

I like reading ARCs but there can be pressure.

I started my blog for that reason too. I really enjoy the ARCs but the pressure to read on a deadline does get a little old sometimes.

I wait a little while before I post my review so I can re-read it before it goes up.

I find myself thinking about no longer reading ARCs simply because they keep pushing all the other books I want to read on the back burner.

I started book-blogging in order to make myself read more. The reviews just sort of grew out of that. Yes, I usually let my reviews sit a while before I actually post them - sometimes that can lead to a complete rewrite, but at least it helps me say what I really mean.

Thats not a bad ideal of waiting a few hours after writing a review before posting it.

What are ARCs?

Anyway, I try and review every book I read and post it on my blogs (do one in Danish and one in English. If I have a book which is only available in Danish, I only review it on my Danish blog) and on Amazon.com.

I set up my blog for the same reason - writing reviews for my own pleasure. I have been getting ARCs, but they've been overwhelming and I'm cutting back a bit. Not completely, but I'm being more selective.

I enjoy ARCs but try not to request something that I would not want to read. But you're right, it does create pressure and I tend to put other books to the side to take care the ARC first.

I try to be careful about the ARC's I request, but I am finding that I am enjoying reading a great variety of books!

Ah, you're so organized. I need to get mys system down but I have been so busy lately. Maybe in January when I have more time.

Since I've started blogging (May), I've reviewed every adult book I've read, and some of the children's books I've read with my kids.

I do read/review ARCs, but I'm getting more particular about which ARCs I'm willing to accept. I do enjoy the variety.
