Where Are You? / Teaser Tuesdays (Feb. 17)

I am only about twenty-two years old, but already I have had two husbands and have become a mother. I am also queen of my country. I recently survived a forty-day voyage over the Mediterranean Sea so I can be in Rome when Julius Caesar has his major triumph. After the processions, my last remaining sister will be executed. I'm still somewhat politically naive, but I'm learning fast.

For more Where Are You? answers, visit Raidergirl3 at An Adventure in Reading.

MizB at Should Be Reading hosts Teaser Tuesdays. Here's how it works: Grab your current read; let the book fall open to a random page; and share 2 “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12. For more teasers, click on through to MizB's blog. Note: this teaser was found by using Amazon's "surprise me" feature.

As gradually as it had crept across the sun, the eclipse passed away. And we were left standing, blinking in the renewed sunlight, which seemed oddly thick and meaty, robust and yellow. (p. 518)

I never thought of using Amazon for finding teasers - but it's an intriguing idea. Sounds like a good book.

I never thought of using amazon to get a teaser either. What a unique idea...and a wonderful teaser too. This would have been plunked right into my shopping cart if I'd read it on Amazon...so I think it might be best if I avoid that deature. My friends there get enough of my paycheck as it is! lol

Very interesting way to find a teaser. I'll have to try it one week. Here's mine.

I use it only when I'm listening to a book on audio. If I'm listening then I don't have a book to open! If I'm reading in print, I use the book itself.

I love the combination of Where Are You and the Tues. Teaser. It really sets the mood. Great teaser!

I love your teaser, it is so descriptive! Mine is here.

TexasRed 2/17/09, 10:27 AM

Very interesting! It's great to have a new perspective on the actual age and circumstances of these historical figures.

Nice writing! I love historical fiction, I may have to add this one to the list. The long list!

Good teaser. I liked this book!

I love the combination of the two ... gives me a better sense of the book. I'm going to have pair these two together sometime! Loved this ... and WOW -- Cleopatra has SOME life!

I am thinking about making an Egyptology Weekend post in the future about Cleo ;o) Although she wasn't really Egyptian and although her time falls a bit out of the range of egyptologists. I have however been studying the late periods in Egypt's ancient history, and they are also very interesting and I know a thing or two about Cleo and her screwed up family...

This book immediately went onto my wish list after we watched both seasons of Rome last month. It's so huge but it sounds great!

You know, you think about it...that is a heavy load for a 22 year old! I couldn't find my own butt at that age.

Robin M 2/17/09, 12:58 PM

Great teaser. Makes me want to read the book. Mine is up now.

That is a neat way to find your teaser for the week. I actually cheated and found one that I thought suited the book. Some of the first ones that I found didn't sound very exciting. Mine is here.

Very good combination of the two teasers. What a good way to learn some history but have a fun read at the same time.

Those are really good! I like the combo post!

I loved your where are you post!! She's done quite a bit in such a short 22 years!!

Great teaser too!!

Melody 2/17/09, 6:48 PM

That's a great teaser!

It is pretty astonishing how much Cleopatra packed into her life. I don't know much about her true history, but George's take on it is terrific.

At this point in the book she's only been queen for a year or so. But in that time she's done an amazing amount of work for Egypt.

Wendi 2/17/09, 11:47 PM

I just love Cleopatra - I can't wait to hear how you like the book. It sounds like it will be amazing!

Here's my Teaser! ~ Wendi

I'm looking forward to your review of this one! Talk about a chunkster!

How are you liking the book so far? I really enjoyed it and it made me look at Cleopatra in a different light.
