Challenge: Cozy Mystery Challenge 2009

I wasn't going to join any more challenges, but I've finally given in to this one. The Cozy Mystery Challenge is hosted by Kris at Not Enough Books. The goal is read six cozy mysteries between April 1 and September 30. Four of the books can overlap other challenges, but two have be chosen specifically for this challenge.

I'm not going to make a list, but I reviewed the first book for the challenge (Curiosity Killed the Cat Sitter) yesterday. Stay tuned for more cozies -- they make such good summer reading.

You're brave. I am definitely not joining any more challenges. And I din't even think I am anywhere near the number of challenges most bloggers joined. I am just hoping that I'll fifnish the ones I did join. But this challenge does sound interesting though.

I agree with your statement that cozy mysteries are great summer reads. I look forward to hearing about what you've read. Good luck with the challenge.

Another one bites the dust. hahaha

I succumb to these all the time... as I'm sure you know. This one sounds like fun though- you held out longer than I did. I'm a sucker for these what can I say.

It is so addictive, isn't it? I'm going to pass, even though I love mysteries and would most likely plow through this one quickly. I fear I won't finish the challenges I already have!

You have not only tempted me, Beth - I have already signed on :D
But then I finished my first challenge two weeks ago so I should have plenty of time for this one.

I'm trying to resist the temptation, trying to resist! LOL

I will not be tempted . . . I will not be tempted . . . if I say it often enough it might come true!

I've just given you a Splash Award - details here.

I couldn't resist joining this one either. :-)

Those challenges just suck you right in, don't they? But I'm unfamiliar with that genre. What exactly constitutes a cozy mystery?

I do love reading the odd cozy mystery, but I couldn't commit to reading more than 1 or 2 in three months. I hope you enjoy it though!

Have you read any Agatha Raisin books? The quiche of death was a lovely light, read, full of quaint englishness, I'd love to know what an American thinks of it!

Yes, I did get sucked into another one -- but I think this one will be fun! And all you resisters: come on, give in!

Dorte: This will be a snap for you.

Penny: A cozy is a lighter mystery in which the protagonist is usually not a police officer or detective but a "civilian." There generally isn't much blood or gore, and the story is as much about the main character and his or her life and friends and family as it is about the mystery and how it's solved. Cozies are my favorite escape reading.

Jackie (Farm Lane): Actually the challenge is to read 1 a month for 6 months, so that's pretty doable. I love the Agatha Raisin books! I'm on book 4 or so in the series. And I love her Hamish MacBeth series too. Because I lived in the UK for most 1984, perhaps my take is not quite the typical American view, but I small town life is very similar no matter which country you're in.

I just dicovered the cozy mysteries by Laura Childs that have a tea master in them so I'm definitely thinking of doing this challenge. Have fun.

I just learned what the term "cozy mystery" was recently ... otherwise I would have been scratching my head on this!
