Winter Reading Wrap Up

I have officially finished the Winter Reader Challenge, hosted by Robin of My Two Blessings. I made changes to my original reading list because I discovered a couple of new books, which took my reading into unforeseen directions.

Here is what I read. Click on the author's name to read my review. My rating is in parentheses.

Completed Winter Reading List

Crown of Horns by Jeff Smith (B)
French Lessons by Peter Mayle (B+)
House of Blue Mangoes by David Davidar (C+)
Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke (C+)
The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly (B+)
Memoirs of Cleopatra by Margaret George (B+)
More Home Cooking by Laurie Colwin (B)
Nancy Drew: Demon of River Heights by Stefan Petrucha (B-)
Rebel by Bernard Cornwell (B)
Twilight at Monticello by Alan Pell Crawford (B-)

This list includes some terrific books. My favorites were More Home Cooking and Memoirs of Cleopatra, but you wouldn't go wrong picking anything I read for this challenge.

What a well-rounded list of books. Congrats on finishing your challenge, Feels good, doesn't it.

As I looked at your list and the ratings, it raises questions in my mind: how do you decide on your ratings? I'm feeling the need to do more than say I loved it, etc. I'd like some independent criteria. Maybe a future how-to post? Or perhaps you could point me somewhere.

Margot: I plan a future "my ratings" post and a future "my book review policy" post.

But I used to teach at the university and so I use school grades; they make sense to me. So C is average and A+ is excellent (the best).

Great list of books and reviews. I picked up Inkheart the other day and Memoirs of Cleopatra went on my wishlist. Thanks for participating in Winter Reading Challenge. It was fun.
